This publication is a compilation of profiles of strong black personalities in Nova Scotia. It takes a comprehensive look at the history of black settlement in Nova Scotia. It zeroes in on how the Black community was subjected to racism and also how they overcame that racism and became free and successful. The book also talks about the black pioneers of different sectors, for instance, arts, business, and politics and applauds their accomplishments. The book concludes with a look at, “Africville” and how this black institution helped the black community of Nova Scotia overcome racism, slavery and discrimination.
