Abstract English
Funded by the Government of Canada, this is a colourfully illustrated childrens book with pictures by Nasrin Khosravi. It tells the story of an 8-year old girl who moves to Canada with her family, from Pakistan. It describes her experience in a new country and her first day at school. The book addresses the challenges that new immigrants face in connection to the change of environment, a new language, new customs and traditions. The issue of belonging surfaces as time passes by, and life changes for the little girl who feels that she is more welcome in her new home. The book also has a 2009 revised edition, under the title A New Life.
