This is the 2001/2002 Annual Report of the Gabriel Dumont Institute of Native Studies and Applied Research (GDI) that was presented to the UN Special Rapporteur during the 2003 cross Canada consultation. The GDI is an educational institution established to help in the development of Métis culture, in Saskatchewan. This report provides an overview of the institute's mission, status of the organizational structure for this particular time period, and it includes the annual financial statements. It also provides coverage of newly developed and/or undergoing research activities, educational programming, publishing and resource services, and scholarships and awards, which foster social, cultural and economic development for Saskatchewan's Metis communities.
