Abstract English

The purpose of this book is to present an overview of diversity in work organizations, focussing on the opportunities that diversity and inclusivity present, as well as how to overcome the challenges that they present. Fundamentally, this book is about how to gain the most from a diverse workforce. In order to ascertain this goal it is first necessary to understand the differences between cultures, the challenges that face diversity and the most effective means of conflict resolution. In addition, this book outlines specific measures for achieving diversity and inclusivity in the workplace. The main conclusion of this book is that although diversity is important, the emphasis must be on inclusivity in order to achieve a truly equitable work environment.

Quotations
Do not forget to celebrate successes. Achieving inclusivity is a long term process; momentum is helped by enjoying the journey. (p.157) When discussing cultural differences related to conflict resolution, it is important to remind ourselves again that we can only talk about group generalizations and cannot know anything about a particular individual until we actually interact with the person. No one is a member of only one culture. (p.123)
